Architecture Can Heal: Adapting Healthcare Spaces in Response to COVID-19

Event Date: May 12, 2020; Event City: As the U.S. and global governments work to slow the spread of COVID-19, one thing that’s become very clear is just how much the physical space around us is a key part of the response and mitigation efforts. To explore this issue further, leading architecture firm, MASS Design Group, recently launched a COVID-19 design response team to explore design’s role in mitigating COVID-19.   Part of MASS’s campaign has involved bringing together experts from a variety of fields to design better spaces “on-the-fly” to treat COVID-19 patients and keep staff, family members, and our communities safe. Next week, MASS Design Group will be hosting a virtual roundtable to discuss the ways that healthcare spaces need to adapt to prevent the spread of COVID-19.  The virtual roundtable will be an hour-long discussion between top doctors, designers and researchers involved in COVID-19-related projects in New York and Boston – two cities that have been epicenters during the pandemic.
