BLACKSWAN Restaurant
Designer Chris Shao, inspired by a series of paintings by artist Gary Hume, has created a sumptuous, contemporary space of flowing lines and gentle curves, integrated with an elegant palette of off-white colors and materials.
The restaurant, located within a prestigious photography museum, overlooks an oriental garden populated by live swans, where guests can enjoy an outdoor drink on a minimalist platform adjacent to the lake. Meanwhile, the design of the interior takes the graceful form of the swan and stylishly adapts it in a number of gestures, shaping the different rooms to varying levels of abstraction.
Subtle, pale shades of stone, plaster, velvet, and burnished metal provide an ambience of refined calm, while the textural variations of curved walls, ceiling panels, and light fixtures present a sense of fluid, energetic movement from one space to the next.
