Special consideration is given to proposals that include methods and themes that innovate and promote sustainable design.For centuries, clay brick has provided unbeatable protection against the elements with unmatched durability, even working to absorb exterior noise. Unlike other building materials, the brick color won’t fade over time and does not require a maintenance schedule for upkeep. It is sustainability sourced and manufactured from earth’s natural and abundant materials. Clay brick is also 100% recyclable and can be reused on new builds, renovations or mulched for landscaping. Clay brick has been used for centuries. It has been molded by the hands of laborers across the southern United States, employed to articulate shadow and texture by famed architects of the 20th century, and is used on a range of building typologies across the globe today.To this end, the Brick Education Prize seeks to recognize effective, innovative proposals and curricula that create a stimulating environment for learning about brick. These proposals should equip students with the knowledge and design skills to achieve sustainable design goals in a range of project types.
