"I’m always evolving my [interior] style," says Ariel Kaye, founder and CEO of Parachute, of how she fills her modernly-designed, Scandinavian-esque Los Angeles home. "If you asked me five years ago, I would have said that my style is minimalist with a neutral palette. Today, I describe my style as eclectic."
Kaye particularly loves displaying vintage gems from flea markets alongside her more modern pieces, many of which come directly from Parachute. She also cites galleries, magazines, and platforms—like NFS, Future Perfect, Galerie Provenance, STAHLANDBAND, Olive Ateliers, objet LA/NY, Nickey Keho, Orange Furniture, and 1stDibs—as major sources of design inspiration. But, Kaye also keeps her attitude towards collecting things low-key and realistic: "With two kids in the house, nothing can be too precious."
It’s fitting, then, that Parachute would offer a gamut of neutral home goods. Luxe bedding, textured robes, tabletop linens, and limited-run decor objects in muted earth tones are meant to complement and serve as perfect, foundational pieces for however customers prefer to build upon and adorn their living spaces. Their products are designed to suit both the minimalist, the maximalist, and any anyone whose aesthetic falls in between. The brand itself has also branched out from soft goods to full-on furniture pieces like bed frames, nightstands, and benches. Kaye describes the expansion as "an opportunity to design a unique yet timeless collection of larger pieces for the home."
When it comes to Kaye’s home recs, she tends to gravitate towards items that have a comfortable, lived-in, and laid back quality to them—things she isn’t hesitant about using the hell out of and making her own. "I’m somewhat impulsive when it comes to purchasing for my home, mostly because I trust my instinct and know what I like," she says. "It’s important to me that my space is beautiful and has personality, but also feels welcoming and inviting." Her fave picks, which range from Parachute go-tos to a vibrant cast iron dutch oven, exemplify peak nestiness.
"Fresh flowers always make me smile. Flamingo Estate has the most gorgeous blooms and it’s a treat to myself to get a weekly bundle. The colors and textures continuously add new life to my house."
"Gathering for dinner with family and friends always fills up my cup. [Parachute’s] waffle linen tabletop set makes any dining room look elegant, yet unfussy."
"A good cast iron Dutch oven is timeless and a must have in the kitchen. It has helped up my cooking skills. Plus, I love all the different colors they offer."
"Our organic cotton robe is sustainably sourced and incredibly soft. It feels good slipping into this robe knowing that it is manufactured with quality materials and with the utmost care."
"I am always happiest after a good night’s sleep! These sheets are some of my favorites and are reminiscent of your favorite worn-in, buttery soft T-shirt, and I can’t get enough!"
"This Crate & Kids ball pit brings my kids endless joy. It works indoors or outdoors and keeps them very entertained. It’s a great way to bring the park home!"
"I just added Everhem window treatments to my home and they have really tied the house together. They add just the right amount of warmth and texture. I’m in love!"
