OMA and LOLA unveil plans for new soccer stadium in Rotterdam

OMA and LOLA Landscape Architects have unveiled new renderings for a new 63,000-seat soccer stadium in Rotterdam.  The proposed Feijenoord Stadium will be home to the Feyenoord Football Club and is billed as "future-proof infrastructure for football and daily activities in the surrounding communities" by the project team.  The stadium, according to the architects, features three-tier seating areas that help increase the arena's overall seating capacity while also "placing spectators as close to the field as possible for an intimate match experience." Designed with a "bowl-shaped steel structure" supporting these seating areas, the stadium represents a key node in a new master plan for the Feyenoord City district, which has also been developed by OMA and LOLA.  The architects write, "On match days, crowds will gather at the concourse before entering the stadium, while the concourse design will also distribute several slow traffic routes along the water and into the surrounding neighb...
