Quarry Concert Hall Architecture Competition

Registration Deadline: Oct 28, 2024; Submission Deadline: Oct 28, 2024 REIMAGINING ABANDONED QUARRIESQuarry Concert Hall Architecture CompetitionSIGN UP HEREArchitecture should rely on available, sustainable resources and promote harmony between humans and the environment. The design objective of this competition is to create a proposal for an iconic piece of architecture; a revolutionary public building of exemplary design. We are looking for an innovative, sustainable Concert Hall in a disused quarry of your choice. This design competition challenges participants to redefine the boundaries of sustainable, innovative architecture by creating a concert hall that transcends conventional design. The winning design will be a beacon of architectural excellence, exemplifying sustainability and forging a profound connection with the surrounding landscape. Our brief asks for an innovative and creative design focusing on the user experience with connection to the surrounding nature and wildlife, providing additional benefit to the restored landscape that will surround the proposal. If you are taking part in our other Quarry competitions, your proposals can be combined to create one large proposal. The idea of this competition is to create a unique, site-specific design that responds to this special setting and the natural changes that will occur within the quarry as your proposed landscaping intervention progresses. The building will contain a communal, multifunctional space, an information/visitor point and a small cafe that will look outwards, blurring the lines between outside and inside, connecting visitors to nature within this incredible, dramatic setting. Internally, the concert hall will be a closed, controlled space, a masterpiece of architectural design and engineering. This competition challenges visionary architects and designers to create an extraordinary, organic structure predominantly constructed from timber. The concert hall should be an architectural showpiece that harmonises with nature, offering a unique and immersive experience. The disused quarry provides a distinctive canvas for this unconventional project. The design should celebrate the surrounding landscape, contrasting with the harsh quarry edges while seamlessly connecting to the nature that will be reintroduced as part of this proposal. Challenge yourself to craft an organic structure that flows naturally within the quarry's contours, merging architecture with the environment. SIGN UP HERERead the full post on Bustler
