World Architecture Community Awards Accepting Submissions

The World Architecture Community is accepting entries for the WA Awards 10+5+X’s 37th Cycle. Apply by March 22.

The aim of the WA Awards 10+5+X 37th Cycle is to highlight remarkable projects that might otherwise remain unnoticed by the international public, but have the potential to inspire important questions about contemporary architecture discourse.

Architects, interior designers, and students in those fields can send their entries until March 22. The awards for architecture are as follows: WA Designed Award (projects that have not been built); WA Realised Award (projects that have been built within the past 10 years); and WA Student Award (projects designed by students).

For interior design, the awards include the WA Realised Award and the WA Student Award (projects must have been studied in students’ undergraduate years or in a master’s degree).

The selection criteria represents the 10+5+X formula: A star jury composed of world-renowned architects, high-profile academics, top design leaders, and previous WA Awards winners will select the first 10 projects. The next five will be awarded based on the ratings of fellow members of the World Architecture Community. “X” projects are those which do not make the final selection of 10 or five, but which the jury believe represent something “special.”

Evaluation criteria will be based on novelty, originality, and creativity in design which reflect and inspire a commitment to the art of architecture. Since the World Architecture Community aims to bridge the gap between theory and practice, explanations and discussions on submissions are just as critical for recognition as the designs themselves.

The World Architecture Community has organized the WA Awards 10+5+X since 2006, with this event representing the 37th cycle. As a truly global platform, the community seeks to provide an equal opportunity to international contemporary architecture and interior design from countries generally less covered by global media.

Annual members of the World Architecture Community may submit their project free of charge, along with students. Others must pay $100 to be considered for the designed awards and $200 for the realised awards.
