Known as the "land of the lost Eichlers," Sequoyah Hills is a tract of 48 Eichler homes in Oakland, California. Many of the residences are in pristine condition, having been "spared some of the more calamitous remodeling efforts of the ’70s and ’80s," according to the community homeowners’ association.
8180 Phaeton Drive, which just listed for $1,300,000, is a five-bedroom, two-bath model with a low-profile facade. The home was designed in 1965 by Claude Oakland, who worked for Joseph Eichler for over 25 years. During that time, Oakland designed over 3,430 homes and helped to establish the Eichler aesthetic—he’s often credited with cleaning up the lines of some of Eichler’s original designs.
