Midcentury modern homes don’t hit the market all that often in Birmingham, Alabama—but this recently listed residence in the suburb of Mountain Brook proves that there are gems to be found. Built in 1958, the T-shaped residence comes with classic period details including glossy wood paneling and walls of windows that provide views of the wooded lot. The current owners have also updated the home for contemporary living with a new kitchen and fresh finishes.

While the home’s designer is unknown, the surrounding area features several residences by prolific local architect Fritz Woehle, who moved to Birmingham in the late 1950s. Woehle designed many homes in Mountain Brook during the 1960s, although this particular home pre-dates his arrival.
