EPFL's School of Architecture, Civil and Environmental Engineering (ENAC) is inviting applications for the new Schindler Chair in the field of Sustainable Buildings and Regenerative Environments. The appointment will be at the Tenure Track Assistant Professor level. Reducing the environmental footprint of the built environment requires the life-cycle assessment of buildings and infrastructure including the analysis of existing solutions and the prospective analysis of future construction methods. We envisage that this chair contributes both to the development of rigorous analysis methods as well as to national and global decarbonisation scenarios. This endeavour necessitates a comprehensive understanding of the economic and environmental impacts of buildings and infrastructure, including their construction and demolition or reuse, their structural systems and the material and energy flows throughout their life cycle.
