Easily switch up your kitchen space with these modern flooring ideas.

Changing up your kitchen flooring can be an easy way to revamp this space. It can be hard to choose exactly what type of flooring to use for your kitchen as it's such a high-traffic area. Options made from tile or vinyl can be a great choice if you looking for something waterproof, and cork or linoleum flooring can be great for overall durability. Ahead are some floor ideas to consider if you're looking to change your kitchen.  

1. Slate tiles can be modern and warm

Eliminating the wall separating the kitchen from the dining room was a challenge, forcing Dupont Blouin to reconsider mechanical and electrical logistics.

This getaway home located in Québec was updated with a modern flare by architecture firm Dupont Blouin. Some of 60’s inspired elements were kept but details such as updated slate flooring were added to this $450K update.

Danish architect Sigurd Larsen needed a new kitchen for his 969-square-foot apartment in the hip Kreuzberg district of Berlin—so he designed his own in collaboration with Reform. Larsen opted for a kitchen in anthracite—as the darker color added contrast to his oak floors and countertops.

Danish design firm Reform and architect Sigurd Larsen joined forces to renovate Larsen’s 969-square-foot apartment in Berlin. With minimal space, the two worked to create space with muted colors and natural wood detailing. The light hardwood floors help bring everything together.

Now, Saltillo floor tiles meld with soft blue cabinetry and a glazed brick tile backsplash.

This 1950’’s ranch-style home received a facelift from interior stylist Tony Wei.  Additions like baby blue cabinets and Saltillo floor tiles were done.
