The Liangzhu jade cong, square on the exterior and circular and hollow at its core, served as a ritual vessel for ancient peoples to communicate with heaven and earth. It also stands as an original archetype of the oriental aesthetic of order. We infuse cultural genes dating back five millennia into the workplace of Industry 4.0. Rectangular volumes embody precise craftsmanship and rationality, while mellow materials recreate the subtle aura of ancient jade. The ritual civilization of the Neolithic age and the aesthetics of contemporary intelligent manufacturing engage in profound dialogue within a single space.

Entering the ground-floor lobby, the spatial narrative unfolds gradually from the form of the jade cong. As the lobby’s visual anchor, the reception desk faithfully interprets the cong’s fundamental geometry of a square exterior enclosing a circular interior. Its crisply defined rectangular body echoes the precise, rigorous spatial logic of intelligent manufacturing systems. Softly rounded corners evoke the gentle texture of ancient jade worn smooth by time. The plain blank backdrop resonates with the surface grain of the desk. Thin metallic inlays segment the facade with precision, much like Liangzhu jade: unadorned, yet carrying immense gravity.

Deep gray high-reflectivity marble covers the floor continuously. Its mirror-like quality captures both walls and natural daylight, stretching spatial depth infinitely between the real and the reflected. The walls form layers and boundaries through staggered panels with undulating textures. Materials interact through restrained and refined craftsmanship: stone conveys quiet solidity, metal delivers crisp austerity, matte finishes bring subtle calm, and glossy surfaces offer sharp transparency. Together, they build a rational aura balanced between strength and refinement.

The lounge area tucked at the side of the lobby offers an in-depth interpretation of the cultural imagery embodied by the cong, standing as a key artistic focal point on this floor. The central installation is carved from a single block of matte white stone, recreating the cong’s structure of a square form encircling a hollow circular core. A slender metallic waistline runs through the mass, echoing the precise calibrations of intelligent manufacturing techniques. An enclosed simulated glass fireplace sits at the base, its soft warm flames offsetting the stark rigidity of stone and metal. Seated here, one witnesses the coexistence of the ancient cosmic philosophy embedded within the ritual vessel and the contemporary spirit of precision construction.

The moment one rounds the corridor, all prior restraint gives way to release. A slatted ceiling fragments natural light into uniform square grids. Sleek vertical lines on metallic elevator doors frame both sides, while pale stone walls stretch onward, with the far end of the passage veiled in shadow. The space narrows intentionally at this point, forming the final prelude before entering the atrium. It adopts the traditional Chinese garden technique of scenery suppression, concealing views before revealing them and building anticipation prior to grand disclosure.

If the ground-floor lobby interprets the outer square ritual of the jade cong, the soaring atrium embodies the spiritual essence of the vessel’s inner circular void. Rectangular walls enclose a vertical emptiness. Natural light pours through the skylight overhead and drifts down the three-story wall surfaces. This translates the spatial archetype of the cong’s hollow core connecting heaven into a vertical dimension. Multiple levels of office space radiate around the single atrium, sharing light, air and visual connections with one another.

The three-story vertical living wall represents life emerging within industrial order. Dozens of plant species are arranged in tiers according to their ecological niches, cascading down the atrium’s wall surface. Ferns unfurl in the upper layer, alocasias bloom at mid-height, and moss spreads along moist surfaces on the lower level. This offers an alternative reading of Industry 4.0. The spirit of intelligent manufacturing is not opposed to nature, but enables coexistence between living organisms and machinery. Amid stark metal and stone, this breathing green wall infuses technology with vivid warmth.

Here, the precision of industry steps back deliberately to make room for oriental negative space. All focus yields to light, timber and stone, and the scenery beyond the windows. At its highest expression, the spirit of oriental aesthetics ultimately centers on the human spirit. Within an efficiently operating industrial system, we seek to preserve a corner for stillness, where thoughts may withdraw from data and return to the human self.

The winding corridor spirals upward around the atrium, echoing the layered texture of the jade cong and defining distinct vertical tiers. As one moves along the walkway, perspectives shift with elevation. As stated in Yuanye, scenery transforms with every step. Within this vertical iteration of the jade cong, each ascending step unveils a fresh view. Serving as the link across three levels, the staircase is built with minimalist metal and stone. Crisp precise lines define its treads, and clean bold edges mark its turns, extending industrial aesthetics into the circulation path.

On the sixteenth floor, water takes another form. It glides slowly down the rough stone wall and gathers into a small spring at the corner. The sound of running water is carefully calibrated within a scientific range, creating acoustic privacy without disrupting concentration. The culture of the jade cong artfully merges with acoustic design. White noise arises from water striking stone and the rustle of plant foliage, resonating with the innate frequency of nature.

Upon reaching the seventeenth floor, the space undergoes another rhythmic contraction and release. Light recedes within the narrow passage at the stairway’s end, and the view bursts open after the turn. The private dining hall faces a full-width floor-to-ceiling window, with distant mountains and urban fabric stretching out before it. Stripped of excess ornamentation, the space relies on ample natural illumination and sweeping vistas to foster a relaxed, generous atmosphere suited for business meetings and exclusive gatherings.

The outdoor courtyard retains native soil to form a rooftop farm. Herbs and edible plants such as mint, basil and rosemary thrive here. Staff plant and harvest on their own, cultivating a restorative natural retreat amid the intense pace of office work. Leaning against the railing at dusk and gazing afar, visitors breathe in the scent of vegetation carried on the evening breeze. Those immersed in the operations of precision industries may briefly step outside structured frameworks. In the end, industrial civilization circles back to the land and nature.

Standing at the corridor on the seventeenth floor and looking downward, the entire space unfolds into view. Square boundaries, the voided atrium, stacked walkways, gentle flowing water, and living greenery — the ritual vessel that Liangzhu ancestors used five thousand years ago to commune with heaven and earth has been reinterpreted as a contemporary workplace. The precise order of Industry 4.0 forms its structural skeleton, while the oriental ritual spirit of the Liangzhu jade cong infuses its soul. The two elements interplay and bring forth the ingenuity of intelligent manufacturing.

A fine office space is never merely a vessel for productivity. It ought to be rooted: reaching downward to embrace the historical depth of local culture, and rising upward to meet the tides of industrial progress. It ought to embody propriety, treating people with the reverence inherent to the jade cong and conducting work through industrial order. It ought to possess warmth. Within the stark hardness of metal and stone, it always reserves ample room for water, vegetation, and human emotion.
