VDF products fair: The AVL Spider Chair is named after its long, spindly legs, and was made for Lensvelt by Dutch designer Joep van Lieshout using traditional carpentry methods.
Its wooden frame was built to be functional first and foremost, making it both lightweight and easily stackable.
At the same time, by naming it after an animal that weaves, the chair also pays homage to craft and "forcefully denies the dry, technical, emotionless methods used in modern-day design".
In keeping with the rest of Lenvelt's AVL series, the chair draws heavily on angular, geometric shapes, with a square seat and sharp, rectangular backrest.
Beyond the Spider Chair, the collection also includes an office chair, armchair and workbench, all of which are currently on show as part of the VDF products fair.
