CASE-REAL designs a steel-clad minimalist house in Tokyo
CASE-REAL has completed a new residence in Tokyo, Japan. The two-story wood-frame home sits in a residential sector in the city center and contrasts the surrounding structures with its metallic exterior, made of galvanized steel. From the street, the home displays a gridded system of the galvanized panels leading its owners into an entry court behind a property boundary wall at the street-side sidewalk. The ground-level includes the garage, storage, master bedroom, and a restroom. At the second level, living and dining, kitchen, an office, bedroom, and outdoor terrace make up the primary living areas. Louvers of the same galvanized steel at the exterior cover the semi-outdoor terrace, creating an accessory space for dining and reflection. The interior tones are a minimalistic white and brown, coming from the natural wood throughout.
