College of Environmental Design at UC Berkeley presents a Virtual Gallery Open House
Event Date: May 15, 2020; Event City: You are welcome to join us for a Disc*2020 Virtual Reality Gallery Open House to experience first hand what design pedagogy in a post-studio landscape can look like. This is a call for action! The recent global pandemic has disrupted all of our lives over the past months, while highlighting a myriad of “wicked problems” facing cities. The Disc* (Design & Innovation for Sustainable Cities) program is ready to address these problems head on and be part of the solution. Now, more than ever, there is a need for Resilient Design and Planning in our cities in response to the unprecedented challenges of the global pandemic, climate change, and social inequities. Disc* brings together interdisciplinary students and expert practitioners from around the world to reframe these challenges as opportunities for design innovation. See past Disc* work on our blogs: https://disc2018.weebly.com/ + https://disc2019.weebly.com/ Disc*2020 will continue the tradition of excellence that it has maintained over the years and is expected at the College of Environmental Design at UC Berkeley. As we move to remote learning this summer, we will utilize immersive technology including virtual and augmented reality to explore the latent potential of digital platforms for creativity and collaboration. Disc*2020 will combine online visual communication tools with seminars and digital workshops, synchronously and asynchronously instruction, to create a cohesive and rigorous learning environment that is accessible to every student. See Disc*2020 FAQs: https://ced.berkeley.edu/acade... Disc*2020 students will join the large network of Disc* alumni that have become thought leaders and active participants in shaping our world for the better. Each year, Disc* alumni are accepted by top graduate schools around the world including Yale, Harvard, Cornell, MIT, Carnegie Mellon, UC Berkeley, etc. and take on new exciting professional careers. In an effort to be more inclusive to students from around the world, we will be extending the Disc*2020 application deadline to June 1st.
