IIDA NY to Delve Into AI's Influence on Design with Top Industry Voices

Event Date: May 22, 2024; Event City: New York, NY, US The International Interior Design Association’s New York Chapter (IIDA NY) presents IIDA NY Salon: The Artificial Creative, a cross-creative industry discussion exploring AI's impact on the design community. As a part of the NYCxDesign Festival, this event is scheduled on Wednesday, May 22nd, from 5:30-8 pm at the Arper Showroom, located at 476 Broadway in Manhattan. NYCxDesign Festival, an annual celebration of design in NYC, showcases exhibitions, talks, workshops, and open studios citywide, highlighting both established and emerging talent. The Artificial Creative conversation will bring together design professionals from various disciplines such as architecture, design, and product manufacturing that including: Patrick Bayer, Senior Project Designer and Architect, Perkins&Will;: Bayer is a versatile generalist with expertise in various sectors like sports, museums, education, and commercial spaces. He collaborates effectively with clients and teams to bring creative visions to life, blending technical precision with experiential delight. Beyond projects, he explores futurism, AI, and design storytelling, driving architectural innovation forward. Eric Hull, Senior Project Architect and Developer, Mancini Duffy:Hull and his team drive the adoption and integration of advanced technologies within the firm, working closely with interior designers, architects, and technical specialists. They utilize AI, VR, AR, 3D scanning, and other cutting-edge tools to enhance designers' ability to realize their visions and deliver exceptional service to clients. Jonathan Puleio, Global Vice President & Board Certified Professional Ergonomist, Humanscale:Puleio has collaborated with the International Standards Organization (ISO) on developing ergonomic standards for office environments and holds multiple U.S. patents for ergonomic product design. As Global Vice President of Humanscale Consulting, he leads an international team of ergonomists. Puleio also serves as an adjunct professor at NYU Tandon School of Engineering, where he instructs the undergraduate course Human Factors in Engineering Design. Jack Murphy, Executive Editor, The Architect’s Newspaper and AN Interior (Moderator)Previously Murphy served as Editor of Cite and as an adjunct professor at the University of Houston Gerald D. Hines College of Architecture and Design. His writing appeared in Architectural Record, Dwell, SF Gate, and Houston Chronicle, among other publications.
