Behind an eye-catching facade, a sun-drenched great room connects to a concrete rear addition.

Near the Del Rey and Mar Vista neighborhoods in Los Angeles, this 1937 Craftsman-style bungalow has been revamped with a decidedly modern facade and a concrete addition at the rear. Inside, the communal spaces have been joined to create a massive great room.

Located near Santa Monica and Venice Beach, this reimagined Craftsman home features a concrete front porch, accented by contrasting wood cladding along the front facade and porch overhang.

A great room greets you just behind the front door. Wide-plank hardwood floors and a pitched ceiling lead the eye across the unencumbered space.

The great room provides a single open space for living and entertaining, while the modern addition holds the home’s three bedrooms and two bedrooms, linked by a single hallway. Outside, a yard wraps around the home, complete with raised vegetable beds and a garden shed in the rear corner. A deck also provides an area for outdoor seating in addition to the front porch.
