VDF products fair: The gently curved shape of a flower petal served as a model for the backrest of the Petale chair by MUT Design for Spanish furniture brand Expormim.
With the aim of using as minimal a material palette as possible, the design consists of only two elements – a stainless steel frame and weather-resistant textile.
Despite this pared-back design, the sloping shape of the backrest comfortably hugs its user, aided by the outdoor fabric stretched over top.
This can be adapted to different colour schemes and a matching, rounded cushion added to the seat for extra support.
Its slim, elegant silhouette allows the chair to fit easily into tight spaces and to be stacked for easy, efficient transport.
Like of all Expormium's products, Petale hopes to challenge the boundaries between indoor and outdoor furniture, lending itself as much to gracing a patio as it does to a casual kitchen setup.
