Proud architecture: open call for LGBTQIA+ architects
Registration Deadline: Nov 27, 2026; Submission Deadline: Nov 27, 2026

For LGBT+ History Month 2027, RIBA is wanting to present Proud architecture, an exhibition showcasing the people and projects behind the places we live, work, learn and gather.

We are looking for work from LGBTQIA+ architects at all stages of their careers; from Part 2 students to emerging practitioners and small practices, established architects, and larger studios.

The exhibition will focus on architecture rather than identity. We are not looking for projects that necessarily explore LGBTQIA+ themes, communities, or issues. Instead, we want to showcase the everyday work of LGBTQIA+ architects: housing, schools, workplaces, healthcare, cultural buildings, public spaces, retrofit, restoration, and more.

We want to show the spectrum of work being produced across the profession and make visible the architects behind it.

About the exhibition

Proud architecture aims to celebrate LGBTQIA+ architects through the buildings and projects they work on and deliver every day. Bringing together drawings, photography, models, and other material to explore the diversity of contemporary architectural practice.
It will not seek to define what "LGBTQIA+ architecture" looks like. Instead, it will ask a simpler question:

What does the architecture of LGBTQ+ architects look like?

The exhibition will form part of our LGBT+ History Month programme in February 2027, with opportunities for selected architects to contribute to associated talks, events, and digital content.
