Punchy colors and playful textures up the glamour in writer and actor Mamrie Hart’s apartment.

Having dreamed about redecorating her apartment for years, writer and comedian Mamrie Hart finally decided to pull the trigger during the COVID-19 shutdown. "You can overlook your space, especially the bedroom, when it’s just the place you’re sleeping, but being stuck inside, I realized how dang boring it was," she says.

She and her friend, creative director Claire Thomas, had been looking for a design project to tackle—perhaps a vacation getaway—but with the pandemic, staying closer to home made the most sense.

They started with a blank slate, but worked within a limited budget; Mamrie works in the entertainment industry, which has been hit hard by the coronavirus. Since the home is a rental, "everything is stuff you can take with you, like a hermit crab," says Thomas.
