South Shore Neighborhood Virtual Tour
Event Date: Oct 24, 2020; Event City: Chicago Architecture Center docent Mike McMains joins two community leaders, Allan Lindrup and Yvette Moyo, for this live-streamed, virtual tour of the South Shore neighborhood, showcasing its rich history and beautiful architecture. After the World’s Fair of 1893, the sand dunes to the south of the Jackson Park fairgrounds transformed into South Shore, a neighborhood filled with great history and an eclectic mix of wonderful buildings now listed on the National Register of Historic Places. The neighborhood is home to many architectural styles from the first half of the 20th century, including Prairie School, Revivalism, and Art Deco. This program is part of Open House Chicago 2020.
