Who is Stephen Curry?
Stephen Curry is a basketball player for the Golden State Warriors. He is the son of former NBA player Dell Curry and is considered the greatest shooter of all time. He grew up in Charlotte, North Carolina and wasn’t heavily recruited from high school. After landing to Davidson college, he made waves with his incredible shooting. That, in turn, led him to be selected with the 7th overall pick in the first round of the 2009 NBA draft. Since then Curry is recognized as one of the faces of the NBA and one of the greatest basketball players of all time. He shares three children – Riley, Ryan and Canon, with his wife Ayesha Curry.

Stephen Curry’s career in Golden State
After getting drafted in 2009 by the Golden State Warriors, Curry was steadily bulding his name in the league. Slowly but surely the team’s front office started noticing his superstar potential and finally decided to make him the centerpiece of the team. However, the first few years of his career, Steph was dealing with ankle injuries, which sidelined him for some time. Nevertheless, him and backcourt teammate Klay Thompson quickly garnered the league’s attention as two of the best shooters in the league at the time, giving them the nickname The Splash Brothers. After it finally looked like Steph’s ankle injuries are a thing of the past, Golden State became the title contender they always wanted to be.

Stephen Curry’s first championship
In the 2014-1015 season, Curry flourished under the guidance of new head coach Steve Kerr. After finishing the season as the 2nd seed, Steph won his first MVP. Furthermore, the Golden State Warriors found themselves as the Western Conference Champions, which meant they were going to face the LeBron James’ led Cleveland Cavaliers in the Finals. The Warriors managed to snatch their first title in 6 games since 1975.
The 2015-2016 season was a historic one for the Warriors. They finished the season with 73 wins and just 9 losses. That meant they broke the record set by the Michael Jordan led Chicago Bulls. This, in turn, made Stephen Curry the first unanimous MVP in league history, winning him back to back MVPs. Once again the Warriors found themselves facing the Cleveland Cavaliers in the Finals. This time, however, the duo of LeBron James and Kyrie Irving managed to return from a 3-1 deficit and win the city of Clevelend its first NBA championship.

After the disappointing finish of their record breaking season, the Golden State Warriors signed Kevin Durant. Considered to be one of the greatest scorers in NBA history, Durant fit seamelessly with the Warriors system. Needless to say the team was extremely dominant. That, of course, meant that they got to the Finals again in the 2016-2017 season. Once again, their rival was the Cleveland Cavaliers. The Golden State Warriors captured their second NBA title in 3 years winning it in 5 games.
History repeated itself in the 2017-2018 season. This marked the first time two teams have faced off in four straight finals. This time the Golden State Warriors swept the Cavaliers, which made them back to back champions.

Chances of a 3-peat
In 2018-2019 season the Golden State Warriors dealt with a lot of injuries. The All-Star group of Stephen Curry, Kevin Durant, Klay Thompson and Draymond Green, however, still managed to come out on top of the Western Conference. This time their opponent were the Toronto Raptors. After missing the last round of the playoffs and the first 4 games of the Finals, Kvin Durant returned to the court only to rupture his Achilles in the beginning of the second quarter. In game 6 after three amazing quarters Klay Thompson tore his ACL and the Warriors lost the game, as well as the series. In the off season, Kevin Durant decided to part ways with the Warriors and teamed up with Kyrie Irving in Brooklyn instead. After playing only four games in the 2019-2020 season Stephen Curry broke his hand and was sidelined for the whole season. The Warriors finished last in the Western Conference standings.

After missing the last season, Steph Curry started this season with all of the weight on his shoulders. With Klay Thompson tearing his Achilles and not playing for a second straight season all the pressure was on Steph. Since the beginning of the season Steph has been playing phenomenally. He is putting up almost identical numbers to his unanimous MVP season. What’s more, his game is what is keeping the Warriors afloat right now. Currently holding the 8th seed spot, the team definitely still has a lot to proof. In Stephen Curry we trust, though!
