Beautiful, rustic handmade clock
Unique gifts for dad
Supplies:
- a piece of wood
- clock kit (motor, hands, numbers and double A battery) in a preferred color
- keyhole hanger
- wood carving tools
Instructions:
- Measure the diameter of the wood and put a dot in the center with a pencil.
- Place the movement motor at the center and trace out its outline on the wood.
- Chisel out the wood in the outline of the motor, then drill a whole in the middle of the square outline you have just carved out.
- Sand the wood.
- Insert the movement motor into the chiseled out square.
- On the face of the clock use a plate or any circular object to trace out the circle on which the numbers are going to be placed.
- Install the clock hands in the middle of the circle on the shaft of the motor. Make sure they work properly.
- Use a ruler to place the numbers around the circle evenly.
- Finally, install the keyhole hanger.
Carving out the space for the motor is probably the most difficult part of this DIY
Install the hours hand first, then the minutes one and finally the seconds one
The placement of the numbers needs to be measured properly in order for the clock to work
