Yaku – Sustainable Urban Runoff Management Module / El Sindicato Arquitectura
Isla Tortuga Park, located in northern Quito, Ecuador, was selected for the implementation of the Yaku (meaning "water" in Kichwa) prototype. This modular urban furniture project blends public space with sustainable rainwater and biodiversity management. Designed to be installed on any surface, its objective is to capture rainwater, store it, and promote its infiltration into the ground, emulating the natural water cycle. Yaku invites people to gather in public spaces while raising awareness about the vital relationship between water and the city.
