Herman Miller Eames Lounge Chair and Ottoman

Charles and Ray Eames had ideas about making a better world, one in which things were designed to bring greater pleasure to our lives. Their iconic Eames Lounge Chair and Ottoman (1956) began with a desire to create a chair with "the warm, receptive look of a well-used first baseman’s mitt." The result embodies what it really means to lounge. In continuous production since its introduction, this set is widely considered one of the most significant designs of the 20th century. Combining soft, inviting leather or mohair with the sleek form of molded wood, the Eames Lounge Chair and Ottoman is the culmination of the Eameses’ efforts to create a club chair using the molded plywood technology they pioneered in the ’40s. Even today, each piece is assembled by hand to ensure the highest level of quality and craftsmanship, and you’ll be pleased to discover the set gets even better with use and age. Cushions snap in and can be removed and changed. This is the authentic Eames Lounge Chair and Ottoman by Herman Miller. Made in U.S.A.

Afteroom Story Bookcase

Book storage is difficult in small spaces. With a small footprint, and discreet frame, Story Bookcase was designed to make the most of your space and show off books and other collectibles. "We simply want to create things people won’t get rid of," says Story designer Chen-Yen. In creating the Story Bookcase (2017), they brought a new twist to vertical book storage. Story allows you to shift and rotate the shelves to suit your space's needs. Made in Taiwan.

Kartell Componibili Storage Unit

The Componibili Storage Unit (1969) takes its name from componibile, Italian for "modular," consisting of three individual storage modules equipped with a sliding front door and tongue-and-groove design to offer attractive, stackable storage. Componibili was designed by Anna Castelli Ferrieri, who was one of the first women to graduate with a degree in architecture from Politecnico di Milano. She then went on to become a prominent architect and designer before co-founding the company Kartell with her husband, Giulio Castelli, in 1949. Made in Italy.

Herman Miller Nelson Ball Wall Sconce

Architect George Nelson, who was Herman Miller’s design director from 1945 to 1972, once said, "Every truly original idea seems to find its most important expression in a chair." And then he blew the doors off lighting design. While outfitting his office, Nelson discovered a silk-covered Swedish hanging lamp that he coveted but found too expensive. He then recalled seeing a photo in the paper of Liberty ships being mothballed "by having the decks covered with netting and then being sprayed with a self-webbing plastic," which got him thinking. "And then, Whammo!" Inspiration struck, and by the next night, Nelson had designed his first Bubble Lamp® (1952) by spinning a skeleton of steel wires on a turntable and shooting it with translucent plastic until it was covered in a smooth, washable film. "When you put a light in it, it glowed." This is the authentic Bubble Lamp, produced in partnership with the George Nelson Foundation. Bulb (not included): LED, CFL or incandescent; E26 base; 150W max. UL Listed. Made in U.S.A.

Wallace Sewell Lloyd Lambswool Block Pillow

Harriet Wallace-Jones and Emma Sewell are founders of the London-based design studio Wallace Sewell, known for textiles with bold geometric patterns. Each fabric is processed at a family-run mill that merges age-old techniques with advanced technology. The Lloyd Lambswool Block Pillow (2018) is woven from merino lambswool for a luxurious feel. Inspired by paintings from Korean artist Chung Eun Mo, Lloyd is marked by a striking pattern of blocks and stripes in contrasting hues. Made in the U.K.

Design Within Reach Symbol Side Table

A celebration of time-tested joinery techniques and the beauty of solid wood, the Symbol Side Table (2020) is a sculptural form designed to be enjoyed for generations. Intersecting geometric shapes – including arcs, planes, and cylinders – come together without the use of any screws, showcasing the durability and beauty of exposed dovetail and mortise-and-tenon joints. The honest expression of these construction methods furthers the attractive, timeless appearance of this table. To create the curved legs, designer Cody Campanie turned to the craft tradition of coopering (barrel making), resulting in graceful faceted shapes that catch light and create beautiful shadows. Made in Poland.

Offi Mag Table

The multifunctional Mag Table (1999) serves as a table or stool that holds magazines in its "elbow." And that’s not all this hybrid furniture form can do – position it vertically, so it’s standing on its narrow end, and it works as a laptop stand you can use when you’re seated. A continuous sheet of molded birch plywood forms this bentwood table. The wood veneer or white laminate surface is durable and easy to maintain. The Mag Table offers an inexpensive yet distinctive solution for home or office; use it next to a bed or sofa, or as a compact workstation for computing. Made in Latvia. Herman Miller Noguchi Table

Following his apprenticeship with the legendary Constantin Brancusi, sculptor Isamu Noguchi began to experiment in environmental design, theatrical sets – he was the only designer that choreographer Martha Graham would work with – and, eventually, product design. He created his first furniture prototypes for Herman Miller in 1942 and went on to work with companies such as Steuben and Zenith. The Noguchi Table (1948) conceals nothing, revealing everything about the nature of simplicity. Two smoothly shaped pieces of solid wood interlock to form a tripod that supports a thick glass tabletop. The base is available in black, walnut, natural cherry and white ash, the latter of which is finished with a process that arrests the wood in its freshly cut state, resulting in a creamy white color that will not turn yellow over time. This is the authentic Noguchi Table by Herman Miller. Made in U.S.A.

Gubi Grasshopper Table Lamp

Upon moving to California in 1940, Swedish architect Greta Magnusson Grossman began combining her European training with a West Coast aesthetic, adding a sense of play. Her Grasshopper Table Lamp (1948) resembles its namesake in form, with a lithe solid-brass frame and elongated conical shade. Ball-jointed, the shade can be moved in any direction to focus the light and minimize glare. This is an authentic Grossman lamp. Bulb (not included): 40W max, E12 base. Made in Denmark.

Design Within Reach Edel Credenza

Working out of a 19th-century building in Oslo, Norway, designers Thomas Jenkins and Sverre Uhnger bring Scandinavian design language together with cutting-edge 3-D molding technology to create striking, easy to live with forms. The Edel Credenza (2018) speaks quietly but offers hidden delights once in use. "We made Edel attractive, but the love for it comes when you start interacting with it. When you see how the doors slide across and everything’s fluid," says Uhnger. As for how to pronounce Edel, the designers say it’s like kettle, but without the "k." Made in Slovenia.
