The sleek farmhouse by architect John Bullock frames riveting views in East Sussex.
On a quiet country lane near England’s Kent-Sussex border, architect John Bullock’s Glass Barn is a five-bedroom conversion currently seeking a new owner. The home draws its name from the 14 aluminum-framed windows that illuminate the 7,000-square-foot space and provide far-reaching views of rolling hills and fields.

The Glass Barn sits on nearly an acre of private land and overlooks the Weald, an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty near the small village of Wadhurst, East Sussex.

Measuring nearly 7,000 square feet, the converted home presents various living areas to gather, all of which blend original details with modern finishes.

As part of the conversion, Bullock expanded the original stone structure with contemporary additions, including the glass-enclosed mezzanine level above the kitchen, which helps to emphasize the scale of the pitched roof. Skylights in the apex of the roof further brighten the spacious interiors.

Black-trimmed windows capture countryside views.
