The quickest way to enjoy summer is with in-stock furniture.
Exterior design season is here, and the simplest way to enjoy summer is by stepping right outside onto your own open-air oasis.
Curating an outdoor space has its own unique set of challenges: There’s the sweet spot between design and durability, and, currently, furniture is among the hardest-hit industries facing supply chain issues. Renowned French furniture maker Ligne Roset has found a solution to both, by offering an expedited shipping program of a selection of its handcrafted outdoor pieces.
"Delivery times can be longer due to the craftsmanship involved in producing Ligne Roset upholstery products," says Simone Vingerhoets-Ziesmann, the Executive Vice President of Ligne Roset Americas. "To bridge these lead-times, we have invested in significant amounts of outdoor stock in the US through our popular Quick Ship program and these pieces are available to ship in two weeks."
Family-owned Ligne Roset has been making furniture by the Rhône river in France since 1860, and is known for its design-forward collaborations with both known and up-and-coming talents. (You might know them for their distinctively groovy Togo sofa, a cult favorite in the interior design community for nearly 50 years.)
"Our outdoor collection has the same bespoke comfort as our indoor designs, with the added benefit of being made to withstand the elements," says Vingerhoets-Ziesmann. "There’s no need to sacrifice on anything when you’re shopping for outdoor."
Pieces like the Ottoman Outdoor sofa are ideal for an outdoor pool setting, according to Vingerhoets-Ziesmann. The Moroccan footstool-inspired seating provides the same comfort as its indoor counterparts with a clever hidden drain between the seat and backrest to drain moisture from the elements.
"It's about linking comfort, design and a distinct shape. In fact, the idea behind it is simplicity, a simple object that expresses the concept of travel," says the piece’s designer, Noé Duchaufour-Lawrance. "Design is about telling a story and Ottoman is the story of a land where indoor and outdoor permanently co-exist."
If you’re looking for something a bit more customizable, the Murtoli large outdoor sofa comes with seat cushions made of foam and wood that are designed to blend soft comfort with solid weight to stay put when they're leaned on and can be moved around to a variety of positions. The cushions feature two different slopes: one side is for the more laid-back lounger, while the other is for more upright seating.
