Live interview with Marjan van Aubel as part of Virtual Design Festival

Designer Marjan van Aubel will speak to Dezeen in a Screentime conversation sponsored by Philips TV & Sound as part of Virtual Design Festival. Watch it here live from 2:00pm UK time.

The Dutch designer will discuss her work with Dezeen's founder and editor-in-chief Marcus Fairs.

A Royal College of Art graduate, van Aubel's practice focuses on "solar design" and how to embed solar technology in home objects.

Based in Amsterdam, she has previously designed a stained glass window that harvests solar energy and converts it into amounts of electricity that can charge small computer devices.

Other previous projects include a glass desk with solar panels on its surface which generate electricity from the sun for charging gadgets and a collection of drinking glasses, jugs and vases that incorporate a solar dye that creates electricity from sunlight.

Van Aubel's work has won several prestigious design awards including the Dutch Design Award in 2019 and in 2018 when she won the Climate Action Challenge by What Design Can Do.
