Old Westbury Residence Is an Exercise in Minimalist Forms
Mojo Stumer recently completed a minimalist residence on Long Island. The Old Westbury Residence is a two-story, four-bedroom home with precise shapes and lines that stand out from the neo-traditional residences in the neighborhood. The home resembles a glass box with bright interiors and subtle facades – together, they blend into the surrounds while adding an extra flair. Mahogany planks anchor the home to nature enveloping the house, while the lighter elements of a wooden trellis and screen wall give the house a lighter and more airy posture. Outside, a cabana with a large slat overhang made of mahogany wood provides shade while overlooking an infinity pool and landscaped garden. Photos by Mark Stumer.
