In the third part of Virtual Design Festival's collaboration with Zoomed In festival, we are streaming a discussion on architectural photography in the media with Anthony Coleman, Edmund Sumner, James Brittain and Robert Torday. The talk will be live-streamed at 5pm UK time.
Architectural photographers Coleman, Sumner and Brittain, and Belford Communications director Torday, will speak to Architectural Review editor Manon Mollard about how the changing media landscape is reshaping architectural imagery and reframing the way in we experience architecture.
Coleman, Sumner and Brittain are members of VIEW Pictures, an image library led by photographer Dennis Gilbert which holds the archives of 50 of the world's best-known architecture and interior design photographers.
They will discuss how their profession has changed in line with the changing ways in which images are consumed, how the proliferation of digital images has changed the way we experience architecture, and what this means for the future of the built environment.
Torday will share his experiences of working with leading architectural practices at Belford Communications, a marketing consultancy specialising in architecture, design, the arts and publishing. He will explore how the firm's work with the media and photographers has shaped perceptions of its clients' projects through imagery.
About Zoomed In
Zoomed In is a new virtual design festival celebrating architecture and photography, founded by Luke O'Donovan. Running live from 21 April to 24 April, the festival brings together an international selection of architectural photographers and cross-disciplinary creatives in a series of online talks and discussions, short film screenings, image galleries and a charity print sale in aid of the Trussell Trust.
The programme will be curated by VIEW Pictures, Mass. Collective, Laura Mark and Francisco Ibañez with Luke O'Donovan.
About Virtual Design Festival
Virtual Design Festival, the world's first digital design festival, runs from 15 April to 30 June 2020. It is a platform that will bring the architecture and design world together to celebrate the culture and commerce of our industry, and explore how it can adapt and respond to extraordinary circumstances.
VDF will host a rolling programme of online talks, lectures, movies, product launches and more, complementing and supporting fairs and festivals around the world that have had to be postponed or cancelled and it will provide a platform for design businesses, so they can, in turn, support their supply chains.
