Anna Heringer is an architect and honorary professor of the UNESCO Chair of Earthen Architecture, Building Cultures, and Sustainable Development. Her focus is on the use of natural building materials. Her work has been widely published and exhibited at MoMA New York, the V&A Museum in London and at the Venice Biennale among other places. In 2013 with Andres Lepik and Hubert Klumpner she initiated the Laufenmanifesto where practitioners and academics from around the world contributed to define guidelines for a humane design culture.This lecture with preceding reception and the associated Donghia Master Class - led by the 2023-2024 Donghia Designer-in-Residence Anna Heringer at Otis College of Art and Design March 22-27, 2024 - are made possible through a generous donation from the Angelo Donghia Foundation.The ANGELO DONGHIA FOUNDATION, a privately held not-for-profit organization created under the will of the late Angelo Donghia, provides support for two distinct fields: the advancement of education in the field of interior design and initiatives pertaining to the discovery of causes of AIDS and its related diseases, and their methods of treatment.This lecture was organized by the Environmental Design Department at Otis College of Art and Design - otis.edu/environmental-design.
