The School of Art, Design and Art History at James Madison University invites applications for a full-time, tenure-track, Assistant Professor of Architectural Design. We seek candidates from underrepresented groups who wish to participate in a collaborative community that fosters independent thought and creativity, embraces the diversity of cultural expression, and cultivates excellence in the making and understanding of architectural design. The program is a pre-professional degree, with strengths in design process, making, and navigation of the unknown. Students complete a BFA in Art, with a major in Architectural Design. We work to cultivate an architecture of experimentation, risk, rigor, phenomenology, and discovery. The times call for an architecture of healing and vision, a quest we embrace.
